Two years ago I tried another phone English service for a month.
I was very dissatisfied back then.. it was 100,000 won a month for about 10-minute calls, and really, after just a few words it was already time to hang up,
so I never had time to get close to the teacher, and it didn't even feel like taking a class.
It was basically hang-up time after a couple of "um.... um...."
An acquaintance told me I could do phone English for 30 minutes at such a cheap price, which is why I chose CherryEnglish,
and after the level test I've been taking my lessons really well ever since.
First of all, my Filipino teacher and I got close very quickly and very much.
Since the teacher reached out first to shy me and never spared her praise,
I could speak with confidence, without being embarrassed even when my sentences were wrong.
My English skills may be lacking, but I have so much to say that I lose track of how the 30 minutes go by..
And since the lessons are done using Skype, when I don't catch something well she uses the chat window to write out the sentence,
and even when I say a sentence wrong, she writes the correct sentence in the chat.
Personally, I've been organizing those sentences into a Word file.
It really seems much better than doing it on a phone.
To everyone taking lessons: be sure to get close to your Filipino teacher quickly.
Because of the Korean Wave in the Philippines too, they know most Korean dramas and songs, so I think it was even easier to get close.
Rather than thinking of her as a teacher, I feel like she's an older sister, so my calling time feels less like class time
and more like a fun time chatting.
I want to keep doing this without necessarily aiming to get an English score.
Really, at this price, with no commuting time to an academy, and talking for a full 30 minutes at that — I don't think there's anything but CherryEnglish.
So may everyone level up their conversation skills with CherryEnglish ^^
